Self-improvement apps:We make thousands of decisions every day but we don't always learn from our mistakes. This project investigates whether apps that prompt people to reflect on their decisions, problems, successes, and failures can help people improve themselves more rapidly. Previous experience with online and/or field experiments or skills in web development or mobile app development would be a great asset for this project.
Optimal Goal Setting.Goals are essential to human effectiveness. But which goals should we set, and how should we go about setting them? In this project, we address this question through a combination of computational modeling and behavioral experiments. You should have strong programming skills and prior experience with computational modeling and behavioral experiments is plus..
Helping people set better goals.In this project we investigate which kinds of goal setting prompts are most effective at helping people set better goals. We will conduct a series of online and field experiments to find out which types of goals are most effective, identify effective goal setting strategies, and investigate how people can learn to set better goals. You should have good programming skills and prior experience with designing and/or running psychological experiments and data analysis. Previous experience with online and/or field experiments or skills in web development would be a great asset for this project but are not required. .
